A freight firm has admitted failing to ensure the proper inspection and maintenance of a tail lift on a trailer which failed at Waitrose and could have caused “serious personal injury” to employees and shoppers.
Ferryspeed (CI) Limited admitted a breach of the Health and Safety at Work law before the Royal Court on Friday.
The summons presented before the Court stated that the freight company failed to ensure the “suitable inspection and maintenance” of equipment it owned and operated to ensure safety.
The breach involves a tail lift on a refrigerated trailer which had not inspected between 2 October 2019 and 29 March 2021, when it failed at Waitrose on Rue des Pres.
The summons notes that, in failing to ensure proper inspection, employees and members of the public were exposed to the risk of “serious personal injury”.
Ferryspeed was represented by Advocate Adam Harrison before Royal Court.
They will be sentenced on 29 October 2021.
