All Government workers, except nurses and midwives, will be receiving a 0.9% pay increase, totalling around £3.8m.
“Constructive negotiations” are still ongoing between Government and the trade unions representing nurses and midwives and it is hope they will be concluded by the summer.
The 2021 Pay Award of 0.9% has been agreed by the following groups - excluding those with salaries of £100,000 or more:
Staff grade doctors, Senior Associate Specialists and Hospital Consultants agreed a 4% award for 2020, as well as the 2021 0.9% award.
Meanwhile, the Government’s pension contributions will increase by 0.8%.

In total, £3.76m from the Government's reserves has been allocated to the various departments for the pay awards, and an additional £2m for pension contributions.
Senior leaders, who had their pay frozen for 2018 and 2019 while the former CEO's OneGov restructuring aiming to cut management positions to save money was ongoing, will receive a backdated rise for 2020 in addition to the 2021 rise.
66 senior leaders will be benefiting from that pay rise, which will cost £409,000 over the next two years.
“Savings were made from freezing the base pay in 2018/19 and a reduction in senior management grades,” a Government spokesperson told Express.
“There was a commitment to review senior salaries for a pay award in 2020, but this didn’t happen due to capacity issues related to covid. This review has now concluded and awards are in line with the civil service group.”
