Guernsey's rubbish could be heading our way

Jersey’s been shortlisted to make money out of Guernsey’s 23 tonne load of rubbish.

TTS is one of five operators shortlisted to tender for the job of burning our sister Isle’s waste from 2018.

They say the incinerator at La Collette has the capacity to deal with it all but if we get the job it will be up to the States to decide whether we should ship it all over.

Transport and Technical Services Minister Deputy Eddie Noel said: “It is stipulated by Guernsey’s tendering process that I cannot talk about the details of the tender, however we can say that TTS is keen to work with Guernsey and we will submit a tender which will be beneficial both for Jersey and for Guernsey.”

TTS have until the end of next month to submit the tender with their proposals and prices.
