One aptly-named dog was rescued by firefighters among the rocks near La Pulente today after she had gone missing while chasing after birds.
'Felice', which means happy or lucky, was found with one of her legs trapped in her harness 200 metres along the shoreline.
Felice had run away from her owner shortly before 10:00 when chasing birds onto the rocks and then got into difficulty when trying to swim back to the beach. Her owner said she had last seen her clambering onto rocks, but then went out of sight.
She tried to search for her among the rocks, but had to stop because of the risk of slipping and possibly falling into the sea.
Four members of the White Watch came to the owner's help and conducted a shoreline search of the rocks between La Pulente and Le Petit Port, using waterproof dry suits and buoyancy aids.
Felice was eventually found approximately 200 metres along the rocks and had somehow managed to get one of her legs tangled in her harness. She was returned safely to her owner, unharmed, except for a minor cuts.

Following the rescue, Crew Commander Andy Gallie said: “It’s not uncommon for pet owners to put themselves at significant risk whilst attempting to rescue their pet. Fortunately, on this occasion Felice’s owner realised that calling Jersey Fire and Rescue was the safer option.”
