Happy Mondays to headline at Weekender festival

Sunday 09 April 2017

The Happy Mondays have been announced as the next set of headliners at the Weekender, the new two-day music festival promising to fill the Jersey Live vacuum.

They’ll be filling the Icon Slot on the WKNDR Stage on Sunday 3 September at the Royal Jersey Showground event.

Founded in the 1980s, Manchester Britpop group The Happy Mondays have been responsible for hits such as ‘Kinky Afro’ and ‘Loose Fit’.

But most will remember them for the memorable line, “you’re twisting my melon, man…” from 1990s anthem ‘Step On’ (below).

The Weekender hopes to unite both classic and more contemporary acts. New performers will be announced each Friday over social media.
