Police have described an alcohol-fuelled car crash that led to three people being injured as a "nasty collision that was totally avoidable", after the 25-year-old driver was jailed this morning.
James Arnold was double the legal alcohol limit of 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres when he mounted a pavement at La Colomberie and crashed his car near a vape shop on 19 February.
Three of the four pedestrians – one of whom was a woman in her 70s – were kept in hospital for several days with serious injuries following the collision.
None of them remain in hospital, but their rehabilitation continues.
Police described the group as having been "deeply traumatised by the incident".

Arnold, who pleaded guilty to causing series injury by careless driving when under the influence of drink, and an additional count of resisting arrest, appeared in the Royal Court this morning.
He was sentenced to two-and-a-half years' imprisonment and handed a three-year driving ban.

Speaking following the sentencing, Investigating Officer Police Constable James Alcock said: “Arnold made that decision to drink alcohol and then get behind the wheel.
"Because of that he now has lost his licence and his liberty and the people he injured are still suffering the after-effects.”
