"His huge cheeky grin would light up the room"

Monday 23 March 2020

Friends and family of a young man whose life was tragically cut short this month are crowdfunding to give the "happy, smiley and extremely loving" islander the "send-off he so truly deserves."

Myles Hayden Quemard (22) lost his life on Friday 13 March through what were described as "tragic and unforeseen circumstances".

Around a week later, his cousin, Matt Daly, started a crowdfunding campaign with the aim of raising £8,000 towards the funeral costs of his family member.

The page read: "We are hoping to raise as much as possible to help towards the funeral costs of Myles Hayden Quemard (22)... Who we so sadly lost through tragic and unforeseen circumstances on Friday 13th March 2020... Myles is always so happy and smiley and extremely loving and caring... and with your help we would love to give Myles the Best send off he so truly deserves xx."

In just four days, the JustGiving page is already more than half way to its total, with islanders contributing £4,864 at the time of writing.

As well as donating, many islanders took the opportunity to pay tribute to the "lovely" and "soul-filled" character.

Remembering Myles, his girlfriend, Emily Maule, told Express: "Myles was always so smiley, his huge cheeky grin would light up the room as soon as he walked in.

"He was extremely loving and caring and will be so dearly missed by so many."
