Can you help take the weight off Santa's sleigh?

Wednesday 08 October 2014

“Tis almost the season for sack loads of cards and presents to arrive into the Island and Jersey Post wants to make sure nobody’s left empty-handed this Christmas.

They are on the lookout for extra elves that are happy to walk and cycle around the Island in December helping to deliver all the extra cards and presents.

Postal Operations Director Andy Jehan said: “It goes without saying that Christmas is a very busy time of year at Jersey Post. On some days our postal volumes will almost double for the month of December – normally we process around 2 million items in any one month and in December, this normally increases to around 3.5 million. In particular we are predicting a 5% increase in packets and parcels this year, compared to 2013. In order to cope with this increase, we do still recruit around 40 extra staff for the month of December.”

But the Christmas staff will need to be early risers – the shift starts at Postal Headquarters at 6 am!

All the extra seasonal workers need to have five year’s residency and must be available to start in December.

You can find out more about the job from Jersey Post’s HR Department on 616533.
