One of the oldest regattas in the world will be returning to Jersey waters next week for its 165th edition.

Attracting sailors young and old, the 165th Logicalis Gorey Regatta will take place over the weekend of 9 and 10 July with a full programme of racing and social events.

One of the oldest regattas in the world, the event is an integral part of Jersey’s maritime history and provides sailors with the opportunity to compete in one of the most picturesque locations in the British Isles.

This year’s event will see races for dinghies, cruising and racing yachts, sports catamarans, dayboats and windsurfers.

In addition, the youngest sailors will be able to enjoy a series of inshore races in their Optimist dinghies.

The social events are a popular aspect of the weekend, including a BBQ on the beach on the Saturday night and a prize-giving ceremony at the Old Bank House in Gorey Village on the Sunday.

Freed from Covid restrictions, yachtsmen from the other Channel Islands and France will once again be able to take part, competing against the local crews for the numerous trophies up for grabs.

“Thanks to the support from our sponsors, Logicalis, we are once again able to offer a full programme of sailing and social events,” said GRA Captain Justin Horton.

“The BBQ and prize-giving ceremony are always very popular and, with fingers crossed for good weather, we look set for a memorable weekend.”

Further information and entry details can be found on the association website or on Facebook. The closing date for entries is Wednesday 6 July.
