Islanders are being invited to meet and engage with Jersey's growers and producers in a series of farm open days next month.

The Sustainable Cooperative (SCOOP), which operates from Bienvenue Farm in St Lawrence, has launched its second series of open days in a bid to foster support among farmers and increase public awareness of Jersey's agricultural sector.

The initiative will showcase a variety of farms including those working with animals, market garden smallholders, and producers growing for gin production, restaurants, and artisan dairy.

A tour of each farm will be followed by meals prepared with some of the ingredients grown or produced on the site.

SCOOP Co-founder Kaspar Wimberley said: “Open Farm Days aim to create a network of support among existing growers and those who might be considering a farming future, while connecting local producers with consumers, to foster a greater understanding and appreciation towards the work farmers in Jersey do for their community.”

The first open day will take place at Bramble Farm in St Mary on 8 September, and the second will be at Oliver Griggs' smallholding in St John on 21 September.

Tickets for the first two open days can be purchased now via Eventbrite.
