Islanders are being asked to only attend A&E if there is a “genuine emergency” following extremely high demand today.
The warning came after officials reported that the emergency service is currently experiencing a “very high level” of attendances at the Emergency Department this afternoon.
They discouraged those with “minor ailments” from attending, instead recommending that they visit their GP for assistance.
They also urged locals to “take care” in current weather conditions.

A spokesperson for the Health Department told Express that the high demand was “no cause for alarm” and not driven by any particular trend.
In a tweet, they told islanders: “After a very high level of attendances to Emergency Department today, Islanders are urged not to come to ED except in genuine emergencies. Minor ailments should be seen by your GP, & please take care during wet/windy weather.”
