James Bond Spectre car coming to Jersey

Monday 30 November 2015

An Aston Martin driven by James Bond during the making of Spectre is coming to Jersey next week.

Aston Martin only made 10 DB10s and the majority of them were destroyed during filming.

The latest Bond movie includes a dramatic car chase through Rome, where Daniel Craig puts his DB10 to the test, before pressing the ejector button and sending the car into the River Tiber.

Jacksons is bringing one of the last two DB10s in the world onto the island next week for a Christmas client event.

Charles Tennant, Head of Operations at Jacksons Jersey, said: “The DB10 is arriving early next week and will be with us for a client event.

“Eight of these cars were used for the film and there are now just two left. The car we’re bringing over is the one Aston Martin has been showing in a glass box.

“We’ll be bringing it over on the ferry, on a transporter, so we will just have to hope that the weather is good for the crossing.”

James Bond has been driving Aston Martins since 1964, when Sean Connery appeared in a silver DB5 in Goldfinger. George Lazenby drove a green DBS in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, while Timothy Dalton favoured a V8 Vantage Volante in The Living Daylights.

Although Pierce Brosnan brought the DB5 back for his first two films, Daniel Craig has been the Bond most closely linked to Aston Martin, driving one of their cars in each of his films.

Aston Martin have also made 150 ‘Bond Edition’ DB9 GTs, the closest thing to a DB10 available.

The DB9 GT, which retails for around £165,000, has a six litre engine, Spectre silver paint, sterling silver Aston Martin badges and ‘007 Bond Edition’ exterior badges, plus gun-barrel embroidery and a Bond Edition start up screen. It can also reach 183 mph.

Mr Tennant said: “We had delivery of one of the DB9’s for a customer but that has already gone. The other DB10 will probably go for auction next year.

“It’s likely to be worth millions, but how do you put a value on a one-off Aston Martin that has been driven by James Bond?”
