Fans of the Jersey's most traditional tipple - and even those not old enough to drink it - are being invited to take part in a sewing project celebrating the history of apple growing and cider making.
Jersey Heritage are planning to create a quilt with an abundance of decorated squares and are seeking help from both young and old.
The project was originally introduced at last year’s Faîs’sie d’Cidre at Hamptonne Country Life Museum, where visitors were invited to draw pictures of apples that could then be incorporated into the quilt's design.
Various organisations have been asked to take part in the creation of multiple four-inch squares of calico, supplied free of charge.
Eventually the hundreds of squares will be stitched together by volunteers, and the finished quilt will be displayed at Hamptonne Country Life Museum.
The project is being organised by Julia Coutanche, Jersey Heritage’s Volunteer Co- ordinator, who expressed: “We hope the quilt will involve Islanders of all ages, from primary schoolchildren to residents of care homes for the elderly, and everyone inbetween.”
She added: “The project is open to anyone, whether they are a needlecraft enthusiast or a complete beginner.”
The deadline for the squares to be completed and given to Jersey Heritage is 1 July 2020.
