Jersey Hospice Care is marking the start of its Christmas celebrations, which include the traditional Santa Dash and Christmas day swim, with a remembrance service today at 16:30.
Light up a Life is a special remembrance service, which gives people the chance to gather with friends, family and the wider community to pay tribute to those they have loved and lost.
This Sunday, Jersey Hospice will also be holding its annual Christmas Market inside the King Centre at Mont Cochon from 10:00 to 15:00. Several Genuine Jersey stalls, Sugar Art decorated Christmas cakes will be available to help islanders start off their Christmas shopping. To make the occasion even more festive, entertainment will be available throughout the day as well as refreshments. There will also be the opportunity to win some prizes with a raffle.
At 16.30, the Christmas countdown will officially start for the Hospice with a Christmas Carol Service at St Andrew’s Church, First Tower where everyone is welcome.

Next Thursday, Jersey Hospice invites islanders to run for a good cause as part of the Santa Dash (pictured). The festive run starts at 12:00 at Liberty Wharf with a warm ump in company of Father Christmas. While Santa suits will be provided, all fancy dress is welcome for all individuals and teams who enter.
On 15 December, schools and workplaces are encouraged to celebrate the season of goodwill by holding a Festive Friday and turn their "dress down" day into a fancy dress day or Christmas jumper day. Jersey Hospice also suggests organising a Christmas bake sale or a Christmas tree decoration competition to help to raise funds.

To top off a series of festive events, the traditional Christmas Day will take place on 25 December at the Smugglers Inn and at St Brelade’s Bay. Everyone who is brave enough to face the cold waters is welcome to come and dip a toe!
