Islanders are being asked to give their views on the arts, culture and heritage in Jersey.
It's part of the first 'in depth' review in over a decade.
Islanders can contribute at two public meetings, which will lead to a new Culture Strategy for Jersey.
A diverse group of stakeholders have already been engaged by the project team, representing the views of arts, community and heritage groups, government departments, Connétables across Jersey and Consuls representing different national groups.
The Assistant Minister for Culture at Economic Development, Tourism Sport and Culture, Deputy Murray Norton, describes the review as “...a significant piece of work that cuts across a number of other strategies being developed by the States. We have not visited the issue of culture, arts and heritage in such depth for over 12 years, however we recognise the contribution it can make to economic development and Islanders’ general sense of wellbeing.”
“We have already amassed a great deal of information but now it is essential to capture the views of a broader range of people, so that the picture we form is as clear and detailed as possible. This will enable the project Steering Group to draft a strategy that is fit for our future needs and aspirations.”
The two public meetings will be at the Arthur Mourant Room, the Société Jersiaise, Pier Road on Monday December 11th from 7pm until 8.30pm and Tuesday December 12th from 12.30pm until 2pm.
