You can kick off this year’s centenary Muratti with a limited edition football and help young footballers in Africa.
Local charity Jersey 2 Africa 4 Football who work to improve youngsters lives on and off the pitch, got a Kenyan factory based in the Nairobi slums to hand make and hand stitch 100 special leather balls for the big match.
J2A founder Ricky Weir said: “This special edition football, produced for a unique match in Jersey football history, offers local people the opportunity to own a memento of the occasion and to help J2A in its mission to support young people in deprived areas of Africa through football.”
The balls, that are all individually numbered and are made like they used to be before mass machine production came to the fore, have been sponsored by Standard Bank. They cost £45 each and all the proceeds will go to J2A.
Standard Bank’s Head of CI and Business Management Claire Griffiths said: “We are proud to have been a part of Island life for over two decades and obviously recognise the importance of this fixture. Equally, we are proud of our African roots so when we were given the opportunity to support a local African-focused charity, it was a perfect fit.”
You can reserve your limited edition football and pick the number you want on it (for an extra £5) by emailing Ricky at j2a4fb@gmail.com.
