Last chance to get a postal vote

Tuesday 31 May 2022

It’s the last chance for anyone unable to make it to the polling booth to register for a postal vote.

People on the main electoral register have until 12 noon tomorrow (Wednesday 1 June) to apply for postal voting ahead of the election on 22 June.

"This is the first time that all islanders, whether on or off-island, have had the option to vote by post," explained Jenny O'Brien, Head of Digital and Public Engagement.

"We encourage all those who registered to vote by 10 May and who may not make it to their polling station on 22 June to take advantage of this opportunity by returning their application form before Wednesday.

"We also want to remind Islanders who haven't registered that it's not too late to have your say. Joining the supplementary register allows you to vote in-person on election day and remains open until 15 June."

How do I get a postal vote?

The option to postal vote is open to those who are on the main electoral register (i.e. registered to vote before 12 noon on 10 May).

All application forms must be returned to the Judicial Greffe by email as a PDF to VotingApplications@courts.je or by post to: Mrs Nicola Southouse, Postal & Pre-Poll Voting Manager, Judicial Greffe, Royal Court House, Royal Square, St Helier, JE1 1JG.

Each person applying must fill out a separate application form.

After receiving the ballot paper(s) in the post, islanders must return this in a sealed envelope to the Judicial Greffe no later than noon on Wednesday 22 June in order for their vote to be included in the count.

Islanders who are not yet registered to vote still have the option to do so on election day at their local polling station. The deadline to join the supplementary register is 12 noon on Wednesday 15 June.
