You can find out how much sugar is in the food you eat and "knit and natter" at Jersey Library next month.
They are just two of a number of events planned as part of their first Health and Wellbeing Month.
There will be various taster sessions in October as well as opportunities to take part in workshops, listen to a talk or just pick up some information.
Senior Librarian Judith Baker said: “The aim is to support emotional, physical and mental health in the Island, and we are working with professionals from the Health Department, charities, individuals and other organisations to achieve this.
“From a ‘knit and natter’ session to learning how much sugar is in everyday foods, there will be something for everyone. We are finalising an exciting programme of events, which will be published shortly.”
The Library will also be showcasing the book collections they have for emotional and mental health, including Books on Prescription and Shelf-Help for teenagers. These can help you to manage your health and wellbeing through self-help reading.
They will also have a display of uplifting Mood-boosting Books, and Reading Well Books on Prescription for dementia for those living with the disease, their families and carers.
Ms Baker said: “We already offer many resources on health and wellbeing, so it was a natural move to use the Library as a base for this community event.
“The initiative will offer the public a chance to join in a range of activities or find out about something new. From baby massage and parenting workshops to putting together a memory box, events will cover all age groups.”
Education Minister Rod Bryans said: “Wellbeing is important for so many people and I am delighted that the Library are providing help and information right in the heart of the community where people can easily access it.”
