The longest performance in Jersey history!

Sunday 20 March 2022

After providing 21 years of entertainment, Performers has been acquired by new owners, Rebecca Lister and Liam Clements.

It was set up by married couple Julie and Christophe Chateau in 2001 to help fill what they saw as a gap in the entertainment market, as well as providing local performers with more professional opportunities.

Performers are known for their appearances at festivals, parties, corporate, public and private events, and are the brains behind multiple local acts including the Parker Sisters, jumping stilt walkers the Moon Elves, the Jersey Hoppers, girl band Siren and the Utopia boys.

Former director, Julie Chateau, said, “We’ve been so very lucky to have such an abundance of Island talent to showcase over the years and have loved every minute.

“It’s not always been easy, as entertainment is very often the first thing to get cut in times of austerity, but we’ve weathered the storms and always come back fighting and stronger than ever – sometimes our best creativity follows some of the most challenging times.”

Christophe Chateau added, “We’ve had so many amazing experiences over the years such as creating the opening ceremony of the Island Games; producing the opening parade dance for Dance World Cup in Disneyland Paris; producing various fashion shows for Marks & Spencers; creating shows for the Liberation Music Festival working with household names such as Anton du Beke and Erin Boag and James and Ola Jordan from BBC’s Strictly as well as producing shows starring Principals of the Royal Ballet, Lauren Cuthbertson, Steven McRae and Sarah Lamb.”

“One of the biggest shows we produced was Showtime at the Jersey Opera House for Jersey Hospice Care in memory of local dancer and friend Gabrielle Robbe – a three hour variety show starring hundreds of local, national and international stars including winner of America’s Got Talent, Paul Zerdin.”

Rebecca Lister and Liam Clements are both themselves experienced performers.

Rebecca said: “We realised it was an amazing chance for both us. Liam and I are getting married this year, so it’s going to be very busy, but we love a challenge and can’t wait to build on the great work that Julie and Christophe have already done with Performers over the last 21 years.”

Liam added: “Covid has been tough for so many local businesses and we think the time is now right to invest locally and help continue the company that has helped launch the professional careers of so many Islanders. Performers has a very strong established history and Rebecca and I are both passionate creative people - we can’t wait to grow the business, while continuing to provide quality entertainment solutions on island as well as a trusted platform for local performers.”
