Lost ring reappears after an Amaizin! 60 years

Friday 04 March 2022

Over half a century after it originally went missing, a wedding ring has been reunited with its owner at La Hougue Farm, St Peter.

Monica le Feuvre lives with her husband Alan at La Hougue Farm, which is better known as the site of the aMaizin! Adventure Park.

In the 1960s, Monica lost her wedding ring while completing her daily chores around the farm.

“I think what must have happened is that the ring fell off when I was hanging up the washing,” she told Express.

“I was losing weight around that time, and it kept slipping.”

Monica’s husband Alan remembers the day well.

“We must have turned the whole place upside down looking for it,” he said.

Remarkably, the ring reappeared on Wednesday morning - amid gravel on a driveway which did not even exist when it was lost.

Kristina le Feuvre, Monica’s daughter-in-law, runs aMaizin! with her husband Carlton. Kristina was shocked at the discovery.

“It’s so strange,” said Kristina. “The whole area has even changed topography over the last 60 years, as we made a green lung for wildlife over 20 years ago.”

Pictured: Minor miracle - Monica's ring was found on a gravel driveway which was not even there when it was originally lost.

“So many tractors and diggers had passed by, but the ring was just there waiting there to be found.”

In a week where the war in Ukraine has dominated the news, Monica hopes that her story can at least bring a smile to some people’s faces.

“My heart goes out to the people in the Ukraine," she said. “I lived through the occupation, and I feel so much empathy for what they are going through over there”.

“I think we all needed to witness a miracle right now.”
