"Lovely" St Helier pub for sale... Yours for £800,000

Ever dreamed of being a pub landlord? A "lovely" St Helier pub has been put up for sale after the Liberation Group decided to focus on larger venues and gastropubs.

The Wellington Pub on St Saviour's Road, at the bottom of Wellington Hill, is available for offers of £800,000 and above.

Buyers will get not only a pub, but also the "substantial" three-bedroom flat above – currently used as a manager's flat – and a beer garden.

The property includes a basement cellar, saloon bar, public bar and games room.

There is also an outdoor area suitable for two car parking spaces.

Director of commercial property agent Sarre & Company, Alistair Sarre said the Wellington was owned by the Liberation Group but was "not really their core business anymore" – with the group focusing on gastropubs such as the Trinity Arms and the Five Oaks.

"We're hoping that it's going to be purchased by someone who could reopen it," Mr Sarre explained, adding that the current owners would like to find someone "who would really love the place".

"It's a lovely little place," he said. "I remember drinking there when I was younger!"

The description for The Wellington Pub on Sarre & Company's website says that "subject to planning, we anticipate the ground floor would be permitted a change of use to an alternative commercial use if required".

Mr Sarre added that there had been some interest in the pub already, but that it was "early days" and he was hoping to hear from more potential buyers.
