Car plunges down Corbiere cliff

Wednesday 01 December 2021

A man in his 20s managed to avoid serious injury after his car managed to clear a barrier and plunged down cliffs at La Corbière.

Passers-by spotted the car with one door open and the engine still running at a near-vertical angle yesterday morning.

Emergency Services were called to help.

Police closed the road leading to Corbiere, Mont du Grouet, while paramedics tended to the casualty and the silver Volkswagen was recovered.

The road was reopened at 12:26.

Officers told Express yesterday afternoon that a 26-year-old man had been taken to hospital after the incident “as a precaution”.

They said it was unclear how the vehicle cleared the barrier, and that investigations into exactly what happened remained ongoing.
