Cannabis worth £150,000 has been seized from a vehicle travelling by ferry to Jersey.
The attempted shipment of 10kg of the Class B drug was stopped by Customs Officers yesterday, who removed it from a vehicle that had arrived on the island on the Condor Liberation from Poole.
59-year-old James Edmund Church from Eton, UK, was subsequently arrested and charged in connection with the crime.
He appeared in the Magistrates Court at 10:00 this morning to be formally indicted. Given the size and value of the haul, Customs' Director of Law Enforcement Steve Le Marquand, told Express that the matter was likely to be referred to the Royal Court.
