Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder

Monday 18 October 2021

A 48-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman was stabbed in a St. Helier property yesterday afternoon.

All three emergency services - including authorised firearms officers - were called around 16:22 to Valley Road, where a woman in her 40s was "found with stab and slash wounds".

She was treated by paramedics and taken to hospital, where she is continuing to receive care.

Firearms officers attempted to arrest the 48-year-old man at the property but, as he "was not complying with orders", he was twice tasered before being cuffed and taken into custody where he remains.

The Force said he and the woman were "known to each other" and described the alleged incident as a "domestic stabbing".

Police are now urgently seeking information from those who may have been in the area between 16:00 and 16:30 today, and ask them to call 612612.
