A search mission by Channel Islands Air Search for a missing 75-year-old man at sea ended unsuccessfully on Saturday night after three hours.
The operation was launched after the French coastguard requested assistance in locating a small motor vessel believed to have the man on board.
The search service’s aircraft Lions' Pride took off from Guernsey Airport at 19:15 and headed to a search area about 80 nautical miles southwest of Guernsey.
Despite good visibility and the use of both visual and infrared camera techniques, the team was unable to locate the vessel or its occupant.
After being stood down, Lions' Pride returned to Guernsey for refuelling and was prepared for its next mission.
