A 52-year-old man has been charged with murdering one woman and attempting to murder another in Jersey 31 years ago.

Rickie Michael Tregaskis appeared before Commissioner Julian Clyde-Smith, sitting with Jurats Charles Blampied and Elizabeth Dulake, in the Royal Court yesterday afternoon.

He stands accused of the murder of Barbara Mary Griffin on 2 August 1990 in the Parish of St. Saviour.

Mr Tregaskis is also charged with the attempted murder of Emma Maria Elvina Anton in St. Saviour on the same date.

He pleaded not guilty to both charges.
