A 60-year-old man who arrived in Jersey on a Condor ferry from Poole has been charged with smuggling 500g of cocaine and around 7,500 ecstasy tablets believed to be worth £335,000 into the island.

Jeffrey George Witsey, from London, was charged with importation on Saturday 18 March.

The street value of the drugs was around £335,000. He was remanded in custody and will appear in the Royal Court on 26 May.



In a separate charge, Shaun Halliwell (39), from Manchester, was accused of importing around 80g of cocaine and a small amount of cannabis through the airport on Thursday evening on a flight from the city.

The street value of the cocaine was approximately £18,000.

He was also remanded in custody and will appear before the Royal Court on 15 May.
