Bailed man allowed to watch Premier League showdown

Thursday 12 January 2017

A football fan who appeared in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday on drugs charges will be allowed to attend a Premier League match in the UK this weekend as part of his bail conditions.

Dylan Rawlinson was charged with possession and supply of Class A drugs between March and August last year.

Yesterday, however, Mr Rawlinson scored an exception to his bail conditions - the opportunity to go to Old Trafford on January 15th to watch Manchester United take on Liverpool in a crunch Premier League showdown.

Booked well in advance of the case, the tickets had been purchased as part of “birthday celebrations”, the Court heard.

Given that Mr Rawlinson is employed in Jersey, with family on the Island, there were no fears that he wouldn't return for the next stage in his case.

“I will agree to the variation, subject to Mr Rawlinson supplying copies of his travel bookings… He should report to Police headquarters within two hours of his return,” Magistrate Shaw stated.

Mr Rawlinson appeared alongside Michael Edward Gilbraith (27) in connection with the charges. Both men have now been released until the 22nd February subject to their bail conditions. The case returns to the Magistrate’s Court next month.
