Jersey Police have unveiled a map drawn by the island's schoolchildren, showing what they think of policing in their parish.
The competition invited primary school-aged children to draw a picture within the boundaries of their parish, under the title 'Policing in My Parish;' one entry from each parish was chosen to form a complete Jersey map.
The unveiling was timed to coincide with World Children’s Day, and saw the winners and their families gather for a special event at Police Headquarters.
Acting Deputy Chief Officer, James Wileman, who instigated the competition said: “...this competition was about encouraging the Island’s children to think about the role that the States of Jersey Police play in our society.
“Community engagement is a really important part of modern policing and that must include devoting time and energy to breaking down barriers, real or perceived, with the Island’s young people. Events and initiatives like this are designed to show that we’re human, we’re approachable and that we’re here to keep everybody safe.
“We judged some fantastic designs and I’m really thankful to everyone who made the effort to enter. I’m delighted with the final map and what it represents.“
