Meet the candidates: Guy de Faye

Tuesday 23 August 2016

Former television reporter and politician Guy de Faye is hoping this by-election will see him once again returned to the States.

The former St Helier deputy served as Transport and Technical Services minister in a previous House, but he failed to get re-elected as a deputy in 2008, or as senator when he stood in 2014.

In his manifesto he says "I will support the Island-wide vote and the scrapping of the 'CoM's collective responsibility' in any States Assembly reform."

That's a bit on his policies, but what about the man himself?

We asked him to take the Bailiwick Express's meet the candidates survey:

Who would you vote for in this election if you couldn’t vote for yourself?

Nice try, but I must point out that a central principle of modern democracy is the secret ballot, so let me call it a "spoilt vote".

Tomorrow - John Young.

Tonight's Hustings - Tuesday 23rd August - St Brelade Community Centre - 19:30.
