Alleged harbour drug importers have case committed to Royal Court

Monday 20 September 2021

A pair from Liverpool accused of importing cocaine have had their case referred to Jersey's Royal Court.

Darren Paul Maidment (35) and Craig Patrick Yeowart (38) appeared in the Magistrate's Court yesterday (Monday 20 September).

The charge states that the alleged importation took place at Elizabeth Terminal on 7 August 2021.

Relief Magistrate David Le Cornu deemed the case too serious to be heard by the Magistrate's Court and referred it to the Royal Court.

Mr Maidment was represented by Advocate Francesca Pinel, and Mr Yeowart was represented by Advocate Luke Sette.

Both men were remanded in custody, with a date for their Royal Court hearing yet to be set.
