More roadworks after Easter

Friday 18 March 2016

A busy road at the top of town will be closed after Easter for almost a fortnight while it gets just under £150,000’s worth of work done.

The Department for Infrastructure will be doing road works in St James Street during the school holidays as part of a big programme that could take up to four years to resurface the ring road including St Saviour’s Road.

St James Street will be closed from 9 am on Tuesday 29 March until Friday 8 April.

Diversion routes will be signposted and buses will be rerouted with a temporary bus stop being set up in Clarence Road.

The Department is putting in temporary traffic calming measures on Pleasant Street to stop people speeding.

You’ll still be able to walk along the road to go to businesses in the street but the Department says you should be careful if you are walking in the area.

Most of the work to resurface the ring road will be done during the school holidays.
