Islanders hoping to get away for the Easter break had a miserable time after Condor were forced to cancel all fast ferry sailings to the UK from Saturday to today.
The bad weather meant that sea conditions were beyond the legal safe operating limits for Condor’s fast ferry – extra space for passengers was found on the Commodore Clipper, but there was disruption both for travellers and for the freight service.
Statements from Condor confirmed the cancellations across each of the four days.
The company said: “We apologise for the inconvenience which this weather-related disruption causes to both our passengers and freight customers.”
The Liberation and Rapide ferries operate to standard restrictions for fast ferries, which mean that they are unable to sail when the wave heights are above three-and-a-half metres.
