New CEO at Jersey Hospice Care

Saturday 05 March 2016

A local lawyer is now heading up Jersey Hospice Care.

Emelita Robbins has been appointed the charity's new CEO.

Emelita said: "I am very excited and already extremely proud of the committed team at Jersey Hospice Care, at the heart of which are the highly skilled staff supported by a cadre of dedicated volunteers. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with them and consider it a real privilege.

"Together we shall continue to strive to achieve our goal of providing the highest standard of care to all Islanders with a life limiting condition."

Ms Robbins was educated at Beaulieu Convent School before gaining a LLB (Hons) law degree and qualifying as a barrister at the Inns of Court.

After a successful career in London as Senior Associate at leading global law firm Herbert Smith Freehills she relocated back to Jersey in 2012 and was appointed Managing Associate at offshore legal firm Ogier. She was admitted to the bar in Jersey but is now a non-practising Advocate.

She has been on the charity's Council of Trustees since 2013.

Interim Chairman Stewart Rowney said: "We are delighted that Emelita has agreed to take up this role. Previously a Trustee with Hospice, Emelita is already well versed in the activities and aspirations of Jersey Hospice Care and brings with her a wealth of management, commercial and governance experience from a highly successful legal career. We consider her to be the ideal person to lead Hospice as it moves forward into the future."

Ms Robbins will manage all stakeholder engagement and oversee all of the charity’s business and income generation initiatives, operations and functions and lead the Jersey Hospice Care team through any future challenges.
