New conference to help with school exams

Friday 13 February 2015

There’s some good news for teenagers stressing about this year’s GCSE’s.

All those in Year 11 can get some last minute lessons during the Easter holidays at Jersey’s first dedicated GCSE revision conference.

All the key subjects will be covered so that students can pick those they need the most help with and teachers from a number of the Island’s schools will be on hand during all the three-hour sessions.

The Prepare 2015 conference, sponsored by Rathbone Investment Management International, is running from Tuesday 7 to Friday 10 April at Jersey College for Girls.

Deputy Managing Director of RIMI Phil Bain said: “We are delighted to continue our partnership with the JCG Foundation to support education in Jersey and believe that Prepare 2015 will be invaluable in helping students to revise for their GCSE examinations at this crucial time. We hope this year’s conference is a fantastic success and look forward to supporting the event for years to come.”

Each revision session being run by the JCG Foundation costs £40 but there’s financial help for any students who need it.

JCG Foundation Director Leanda Jane Guy said: “We are very encouraged, that despite current economic pressures, local businesses are reacting so positively to the launch of the JCG Foundation Corporate Partner Scheme.  Investing in the next generation is crucial for the Island and the JCG Foundation scheme provides a great opportunity for businesses in Jersey to support education on the Island at many different levels."
