Constable in £120k bid to upgrade depot’s half-century-old toilets

St. Saviour parishioners are being asked not to 'poo-poo' a £120,000 plan to bring toilet and shower facilities at Rue de Pres trading estate into the 21st century in a vote tonight.

The facilities for workers at the Parish Depot at Rue De Pres trading estate were originally built and 1967 and the Constable of St. Saviour says the improvements, which aim to provide a more dignified space for refuse workers, are "long overdue".

"There are no showers there [at Rue de Pres]. Refuse workers would have the capability to shower before going home, bringing it back up to date," Constable Kevin Lewis explained.

"The whole place was built in 1967 so it is long overdue to be upgraded."

The plans also include improvements to the depot's existing restrooms, offices and common room.

In a Parish Assembly held at the Parish Hall this evening (Tuesday 17 January) at 18:30, parishioners will be asked to approve £120,000 funding for the improvements from the parish's Buildings Reserve.
