New Vaccination Head appointed

Tuesday 16 November 2021

Jersey’s lead Infection Prevention and Control Nurse has been appointed as the island’s new Head of Vaccination starting from next year.

Emma Baker will be taking over from Becky Sherrington, who will be joining the Care Commission as Chief Inspector.

The Care Commission is responsible for regulating and inspecting both public and private care services, ranging from health settings to residential homes for children.

The handover process will be starting this month.

Meanwhile, Operational Lead for the Covid Vaccination Programme, Ross Barnes, has been appointed ‘Head of Non-Clinical Support Services’.

He will be succeeded by former Project Director of the previous ‘Future Hospital’ project at Gloucester Street, Bernard Place, who in 2020 oversaw operations at the PPE Cell.

The Health Minister thanked Ms Sherrington and Mr Barnes for their help with the covid programme over the last 14 months and welcomed Ms Baker and Mr Place.

“I would like to remind islanders that the changes to the vaccination team do not mean that the programme is stepping down or indeed that the risk of covid is over. It is vital for all eligible Islanders to attend for their covid and flu vaccinations as we enter the winter months,” Deputy Renouf added.
