Nominations open for 2018 Jersey Heart Awards

Sunday 03 December 2017

Nominations for the Jersey Heart Awards 2018 are now open and the BHF Jersey Branch is inviting Islanders to nominate their friends, family and members of the community who have joined the fight against heart disease.

The BHF Jersey Branch hosts the awards to recognise Islanders going above and beyond to fight against the 'indiscriminate killer' that is heart disease.

There are several categories up for public nomination. From individuals who have had to use quick thinking to administer CPR -Local Life-Saver Award-, or a Heart Champion living with cardiovascular disease and fighting back with a personal challenge, to individuals encouraging healthy life choices within the community -Healthy Heart Ambassadors-, young ambassadors -Young Heart Hero- or those offering vital support to Islanders through difficult times -Heart Supporter.

Nominations can be made through the BHF Jersey website before 14 January. After this date, the panel of judges will go through the entries and shortlist finalists. Award winners will be announced at the Jersey Heart Awards Gala Dinner, hosted at the Radisson Blu Hotel, on 24 February.

Summer Lister, Fundraising Manager for the BHF in the Channel Islands commented: “The Jersey Heart Awards are an amazing opportunity to celebrate some of the bravest, most compassionate, driven and informed members of our community.

"Our research saves local lives, but it is only made possible thanks to the fighting spirit of Islanders determined not to let this heartless disease beat us. The fun filled Awards Gala entails plentiful celebration and local talent – there is something for everyone to enjoy!"

As well as the public nominated categories, the BHF Jersey Branch will be recognising its top Fundraising Champion(s) and Super Volunteers.
