Howard Davis Park is hoping to show off its “outstanding” status with a new flag.
The Department for Infrastructure (DfI) has put in a planning application to erect a special seven-metre flagpole displaying their 0.9m x 1.8m Green Flag award flag at the park’s main entrance.
Secured last year, the accreditation is an international mark of quality showing that park is welcoming, safe and secure, well-maintained and features a variety of flora and fauna.

A DfI spokesperson explained: “The Department for Infrastructure made the planning application for the erection of a flagpole to display our Green Flag award Flag
Coronation Park at Millbrook and Sir Winston Churchill Memorial Park at St Brelade as well as Howard Davis Park have all received Green Flag Awards from the UK charity Keep Britain Tidy since 2014. It is an annual scheme to recognize outstanding parks and green spaces.
"Expert judges from the award scheme visited the parks to assess them against eight strict criteria, including horticultural standards, cleanliness, sustainability and community involvement. As well as looking at the park itself, the judges also question and look at documentation about management policies and processes."
Planners are yet to decide on the application, but no objections have been raised as yet.
