Plans to develop Limes into housing

Wednesday 11 November 2020

Plans to redevelop the site of a former residential home into housing reaching up to seven storeys - taller than Police HQ - have been unveiled.

Andium Homes' proposals for The Limes, designed by Waddington, were shown to residents of Havre Des Pas at a consultation at the end of last month.

The building, which was transferred to Andium in 2017, is currently used as junior doctor and hospital keyworker accommodation.

The proposed housing scheme will see a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom homes, with a total of 147 units forming a part of the scheme.

130 of the units will be new, with the rest being refurbished from existing buildings to the south of the site.

The site would reach a maximum of seven storeys on the Green Street/Route du Fort corner, though varies from building to building and is split across the roofline, going down to two storeys. The neighbouring Police headquarters in the same area reaches five storeys.

The plans lean on eco-friendly solutions, including Photovaltaic Solar Panels to provide some of the buildings’ electricity, bicycle stores, electric car charging points and rain water harvesting. There are also plans to enhance cycling provisions in the area by creating a track around the nearby roundabout.

Mature trees would also be planted on the roundabout side of the perimeter.

On the affordability of the homes, Andium Head of Service Management Carl Mavity told Express: “All units on the site will be affordable homes and we hope to see opportunities for a mix of social rental and affordable purchase homes, sold on our Andium Homebuy Scheme.

“All homes, whether rental or purchase will be accessed via the Affordable Housing Gateway.”

Andium are currently applying for outline planning permission only at this stage.
