Plat Douet school is being disinfected after a child tested positive for covid-19.
In a statement shared late last night, the Government confirmed that the child’s class and after-school ‘bubble’ would now have to enter quarantine.
If the children’s guardians consent, they will be tested twice.
“All parents have been informed and the children in the class bubble and after-school bubble are required to self-isolate. They will be tested at days five and eight, subject to parental or carer consent,” an Education spokesperson explained.
“The school will be disinfected and will open as usual after half-term, following advice from Environmental and Public Health.
“To protect the identity of this child and respect the family’s privacy we are unable to comment any further.”

Classes at St. Saviour, St. John, and St. Michael’s have also been sent home in recent weeks after students with the virus were identified.
A member of Le Rocquier support staff also tested positive.
News of the case at Plat Douet came hours after it was announced that 26 new virus cases had been identified over the weekend.
17 were picked up through arrivals testing, six people were direct contacts of individuals that had already tested positive, and three were discovered while seeking healthcare.

— Government of Jersey (@GovJersey) October 26, 2020
Since Friday 23 October, 26 new cases have been identified (17 from inbound travel, 6 from contact tracing, 3 while seeking healthcare). Today we are reporting 34 people having recovered from COVID-19. pic.twitter.com/1SGTeQiBom
However, a greater number of people recovered, meaning that the overall number of individuals officially recorded as having the illness fell to 74.
Of these, the Government said: "The majority of these are the cases that were identified two weekends back – they have now either recovered from their symptoms or completed their 14-day isolation period without symptoms."
