Police continue hunt for driver who fled van crash scene

Thursday 22 December 2016

The hunt for a man who stole and crashed a van and then fled the scene on Sunday morning, has now entered its fifth day.

Police were called to the overturned white Suzuki near Bel Royal School at around 7.30. It had careered into two cars and a granite wall, after being stolen from St Peter’s Garden Centre earlier in the morning.

Although a member of the public chased the driver he managed to get away. And despite using a special heat-seeking drone he also managed to evade the police.

Given the severity of the crash police are worried the driver could be seriously injured. He’s described as being around 5’4” tall, of medium build with short black hair. Probably in his later twenties or early thirties. He was wearing a dark red check shirt and dark trousers.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 01534 612612.
