Police investigating possible drugs supply link to man's death

Tuesday 22 May 2018

Jersey police are investigating a potential drugs link to the death of a 35-year-old man, an inquest has heard.

Ryan Edward Munro was found dead in his home on York Street in the morning of 24 April.

An inquest into his death heard yesterday that he was born in Billinge (Merseyside), was single and unemployed.

PC Glenn Cleave, the Assistant Police Coroner's Officer, said that an investigation into the potential supply of drugs to Mr Munro was continuing.

He added that while the Police can not confirm yet if the circumstances of Mr Munro's were suspicious or not, they had no objections to his body being released. A full report into the death will be submitted in due course.

A first post-mortem examination was carried out by Dr Russell Delaney, a Home Office registered pathologist, two days after Mr Munro was found. The results of the toxicological and histological examinations are still pending.

Advocate Mark Harris, the Deputy Viscount, asked a second pathologist, Dr Amanda Jeffery, to review the results of the first examination as someone "may be or may have been charged in relation with the death." She concluded there was no reason for further attention or for a physical re-examination to take place.

The inquest has been adjourned pending further enquiries and Mr Munro's body has been released to allow his family to make funeral arrangements.
