Police investigate mysterious incident of the shoes in the nighttime

Thursday 11 May 2023

Police have confirmed they are investigating an incident whereby an islander's shoes were seemingly stolen in the middle of the night – and replaced with another distinctive pair.

Posting on Facebook, Myles O'Hagan reported that someone had entered his property and taken a number of items from him, including a pair of Adidas trainers, between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00.

"I can’t explain how angry I am," he said, going on to explain that, in the act, the perpetrator appeared to have left their own distinctively customised shoes behind.

As one Facebook commenter pointed out, the enthusiasm for 1970s band The Jam and frontman Paul Weller suggested by the shoe scrawls likely puts the age of the perpetrator higher than some might expect.

A Police spokesperson confirmed that officers are investigating the incident, and have the name of a suspect.

Frustrating for the victim but do we really have nothing else to spend our Police time investigating and ultimately tax payers money?
