Police seek man who ‘abused woman at traffic lights’

Thursday 09 February 2023

Police are appealing for information about a man alleged to have verbally abused a female driver while she was stopped at traffic lights.

Officers said the reported “verbal altercation” took place at the junction of David Place and Val Plaisant around 08:40 on Tuesday morning (7 February).

“A woman driving a silver car was stationary at the traffic lights on David Place, when a man stopped and started shouting at her from across the road,” the Force explained.

“The lights turned green and the woman drove away. The man was walking on the opposite side of the road to the woman’s car and he was heading in the direction of town when this happened.”

The man -  who was said to be known to the alleged victim - at the centre of the allegation was described as white, in his 30s, wearing a grey jacket and dark trousers, with a back pack on his back.

Anyone who may have seen what happened is being asked to get in touch with police by calling 612612 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their online form.
