Detectives are awaiting the results of a post mortem examination into the death of a 41-year-old man found in the back of a parked car in St Mary on Saturday.
A Home Office Pathologist who flew over from the UK yesterday has completed an examination, and the police say that they are awaiting the results of tests.
The dead man has been identified as 41-year-old Jonathan Lucas Ambrose – specially-trained family liaison officers have been supporting his partner and family since he was found dead at around 9.40 pm on Saturday.
He was found in his car, parked at a private residence in St Mary.
Police say that he had been walking in the area around St Mary’s Parish Hall and the school in the two hours before he died.
A statement this morning from Detective Inspector Stephen Langford of the Criminal Investigation Department confirmed that the post mortem had been completed.
He said: “Yesterday a Home Office pathologist completed a post mortem on Mr Ambrose and we await the results of additional tests. The Police continue to work with the Deputy Viscount on this case.”
Police have issued a description of Mr Ambrose and asked anyone with any information to get in touch with them.
They say that he is believed to have been walking on his own in the area of St Marys’ Parish Hall and the parish school between around 7.30 pm and 9.30 pm on Saturday.
Mr Ambrose was described as being around five feet ten inches tall, with short red hair. At the time, he was wearing blue jeans and a navy polo shirt – and was possibly either wearing or carrying a red hoodie and a blue jacket.
If anyone has any information, they should get in touch with the police on 612612.
