Priest and antiques seller accused of perverting course of justice

Friday 06 September 2024

A local antiques seller has been accused of perverting the course of justice alongside a Catholic priest charged with sexually abusing a child in Jersey.

Poland-born Piotr Antoni Glas (60) was charged in the Magistrate's Court in June with eight counts of committing an act of gross indecency and two counts of indecent assault while working for the Catholic Deanery in Jersey.

He appeared in the Royal Court before the Bailiff, Sir Timothy Le Cocq, this morning and pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Alongside David Richard Hick (69) of David Hick Interiors at Carrefour Selous, he also faced an additional charge of attempting to pervert the course of justice, which both men denied.

Mr Glas will attend a trial for the sexual offences due to begin on 31 March.

Mr Glas and Mr Hick will then go on trial for attempting to pervert the course of justice on 19 May.

In the meantime, both were granted bail.
