Bad weather expected for Bank Holiday Weekend

Wednesday 29 April 2015

You’re more likely to be getting your brollies out this weekend than your BBQs as April showers are set to continue into May's first long bank holiday weekend.

We’re seeing more unsettled weather this week, a lot cooler than the record-breaking temperatures we had earlier this month.

And this morning, forecasters have issued a warning about expected strong winds. Jersey Met have been warning Islanders to watch out for the strong south westerly force 6 winds due to hit the Island.

Jersey Met’s Duty Forecaster Phil Johnson said: “We’ve had a little period of just breaking the odd daily record but it’s returned back to normal weather for the month and now we’ve just dipped below the average temperatures.

“At the beginning of the month – we should have been averaging 12 or 13 and we were into the 20’s!”

He said May will start off unsettled but with average temperatures for this time of the year. Friday is looking cloudy with showers and on Saturday we can expect much of the same. Sunday could reach 17 degrees, sunnier with some showers and there will be more showers to come on Monday but these could clear in the afternoon.
