A lifeboat was called out yesterday to rescue a pair trapped on rocks 600m from shore by the quickly rising tide.
Jersey Fire and Rescue were called shortly before 18:00 and the inshore rescue boat was launched to St. Clement to help the duo stranded more than half-a-kilometre out to sea.
The rescue team reported that neither was injured, but had suffered some cold exposure. They were subsequently transferred to hospital by a waiting ambulance.
They have now issued advice to any islanders wishing to explore the coastline in future.
"On this occasion the pair were extremely lucky and fortunate that they had a mobile phone to call for help and had informed someone of their planned activity," Crew Commander Keating said.
"When venturing to tidal beach areas, check the weather and tide times before you go, take a mobile phone and inform someone where you are going and what time you will be back.
"If it is later in the day and visibility is reduced, a torch and reflective clothing are recommended."
