The case of a 26-year-old kitchen porter charged with stabbing two people on Christmas Eve will be sent to the Royal Court, it has been decided.
Scott McCaffrey appeared in Jersey’s Magistrate’s Court this morning (Friday 27 December) where he was charged with two counts of grave and criminal assault, one charge of having an offensive weapon and one relating to a small amount of cannabis.
Legal Adviser Advocate Carla Carvalho appeared for the prosecution.

The defence lawyer on duty at the Court, Advocate Adam Harrison, represented Mr McCaffrey.
The charges allege that the Glaswegian man committed a grave and criminal assault on a man and a woman in Vauxhall Street on 24 December whilst he had a knife and a small amount of cannabis.

Assistant Magistrate Peter Harris presided over the hearing and decided that, due to the “serious” nature of the charges, it was outside of his jurisdiction and the case should rather be dealt with in the island’s highest Court.
Mr McCaffrey was remanded in custody until his next appearance in the Magistrate’s Court on 17 January 2020 before his case is officially sent to the Royal Court on 14 February.
